Public Meeting Held on Constitutional Reform

Today, at the Akai village cultural center, members of the Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management and Rural Development of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a public meeting titled “A People’s Constitution for a Fair and Progressive Kazakhstan.”

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Akim of the region K. Nurtay, Chairman of the District Maslikhat A. Koshalakov, Deputy Akim of the district Sh. Sydykov, employees of educational institutions, heads of organizations and enterprises, as well as local residents.

The main purpose of the event was to broadly explain the essence and content of the constitutional reform being carried out nationwide, to listen to citizens’ proposals and opinions, and to provide information about the upcoming national referendum. During the meeting, members of the Senate Committee outlined the key directions of the draft new Constitution, including the establishment of a unicameral Parliament, strengthening the protection of human rights, ensuring rights in the digital space, and modernizing the public administration system.

It was also emphasized that the reform aims to consolidate the principles of a “Fair Kazakhstan,” ensure the rule of law, and enhance the effectiveness of political institutions. Participants were informed that the draft Constitution was prepared following nationwide discussions, taking into account citizens’ proposals.

During the meeting, residents raised their concerns and shared their suggestions. The open-format event enabled constructive dialogue and strengthened communication between society and the authorities.

The organizers noted that such informational and explanatory activities will continue. The constitutional reform is an important step aimed at modernizing the country’s political system and strengthening the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms.
