New York Hosts Event Marking International Women’s Day

New York, March 10, 2026 – A special event marking International Women’s Day took place in New York, celebrating the accomplishments of outstanding women from the city’s diverse communities.

The Consulate General of Kazakhstan in New York co-organized the event as part of its annual cooperation with the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York. Representatives of the New York City Mayor’s Office, the foreign diplomatic corps, and diaspora communities.

The ceremony recognized women from various countries for their achievements in business, public service, science, culture, and other fields.

Kazakhstan nominated Tilekshi Amangeldiyeva, a Kazakh financial professional and entrepreneur. She is the founder of the American Central Asian Business Alliance (ACABA), which promotes trade and investment ties between the United States and Central Asia, as well as the founder of the “Qazaq” Book Club in New York, which supports the promotion of the Kazakh language and culture.

The evening’s cultural program featured music and dance performances reflecting the traditions of participating countries, including Georgia, India, Peru, and Serbia. Kazakhstan’s contribution to the program featured American guitarist and dombra performer Geoff Gerch and Baruch College senior Amanmyrza Zhussipkhan, who performed Kurmangazy’s Adai kyui.

As part of the culinary segment, participating countries presented traditional national dishes for guests.

The event underscored the important role of women in social, economic, political, and cultural development and helped foster stronger cultural, humanitarian, and business ties among New York’s international community.
