Ambassador of Kazakhstan Meets with Member of the Hungarian Parliament Ahead of the Referendum

Budapest, March 10, 2026 The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Hungary, Abzal Saparbekuly, met with Sándor Kovács, Member of the Hungarian National Assembly (Parliament).

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation within the framework of the Kazakh-Hungarian strategic partnership and exchanged views on the prospects for further development of inter-parliamentary and interregional relations.

The Ambassador also noted that a project of the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been prepared, and the final decision on it will be made during the nationwide referendum scheduled for March 15 this year. He also outlined several key provisions of the draft law aimed at improving the efficiency of public administration and expanding opportunities for citizens to participate in socio-political life.

For his part, Sándor Kovács shared his views on the parliamentary elections in Hungary scheduled for April 12 and provided his assessment of the current political situation in the country.

In addition, the parties discussed issues related to expanding interregional cooperation. In particular, opportunities to strengthen ties between the Hungarian city of Karcag and Kazakhstan were considered. In this regard, the Kazakh side proposed an initiative to provide scholarships for students from Karcag to study at the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University.

At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue contacts aimed at further developing friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Hungary.
