The case of the gamified eco-trail BÖLEKTAU in Burabay has been selected by the Scientific Committee of the international conference IN SITU (@insitu_culture) and will be presented in Europe as a model for the creative development of non-urbanized territories.

The project will be showcased at the international conference “Culture Matters Here: Cultivating Creative Place-Based Innovation in Non-Urban Communities”, which will take place on May 11–13, 2026, in Valmiera.

The research will be presented by Irina Kharitonova and Alexandra Kharitonova.

The presentation focuses on how gamified eco-trails and children’s innovation can serve as tools for the development of culture, tourism, and the creative economy in small towns and natural areas.

The BÖLEKTAU project will be introduced as a scalable model for fostering cultural and creative initiatives in non-urban regions.
