Budapest, March 27, 2026 - On the initiative of the Hungarian side, a meeting of senior officials responsible for foreign policy and security from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, Turkey, and Uzbekistan took place in Budapest.

On behalf of Kazakhstan, Yernar Lazar, Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for International Affairs, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, participants exchanged views on pressing issues on the global and regional agenda. In particular, the importance of security and stability in the transport and transit sector was emphasized in terms of the resilience of global supply chains.

In this regard, the Kazakh side highly appreciated the role of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in promoting regional economic integration. Attention was drawn to the importance of deepening ties in the areas of trade, investment, energy, and transport logistics, with particular emphasis on the need to implement previously reached high-level agreements on these matters.

Y.Lazar noted that the volume of mutual trade with OTS member states and Kazakhstan has reached USD 13 billion, highlighting this as evidence that economic cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level.

The meeting focused on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor as one of the main mechanisms for strengthening regional cooperation. It was emphasized that this strategic corridor is a key factor in increasing trade flows and attracting investment.

Y.Lazar announced that an informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) will be held in the near future in Turkistan, the spiritual capital of the Turkic world, noting that it will focus on artificial intelligence and digital development.

In addition, within the framework of the event, bilateral negotiations were held between the delegations of Kazakhstan and Hungary.

The parties discussed the progress and results of the implementation of the agreements reached during the mutual visits of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in 2024, and the President of Hungary, Tamás Sulyok, in 2025.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Yernar Lazar invited Marcell Bíro, Chief National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Hungary, to pay a working visit to Kazakhstan.
