Kazakhstan and Kenya Strengthen Cooperation in Esports and the Phygital Movement

Nairobi, April 2, 2026 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Kenya, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN Office in Nairobi Barlybay Sadykov met with the leadership of the Esports Kenya Federation to discuss a partnership to develop innovative sports.
The meeting was attended by Ronny Lusigi, President of the Esports Kenya Federation, Board Member of the Global Esports Federation, and Vice President of the African Esports Development Federation; Joash Okuto, Executive Director of 82 Sports; and William Njiru, Assistant Executive Director.
The parties discussed the participation of the Kenyan delegation in the large-scale international tournament "Future Games," which will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan from July 29 to August 9, 2026.
The possibility of establishing close ties between Esports Kenya and the Kazakhstan Esports Federation (Qazaq Cybersport Federation) to exchange experience in organizing high-tech competitions was discussed. The Kenyan side expressed interest in developing cooperation with Kazakhstan and leveraging its experience organizing similar competitions to develop esports in East Africa.
Participants emphasized that this cooperation will create new opportunities for innovation in both countries.
The parties agreed on further steps to develop cooperation and prepare for the visit of Kenyan athletes to Astana.
