On 2 April 2026, the latest “Avicenna: Healthcare” academic mobility programme was launched in Astana. Medical students from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have begun a three-week training course at Astana Medical University (AMU). The programme is implemented by KazAID, Astana Medical University (AMU) and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
“Avicenna: Healthcare” has been running since 2024 and annually provides students from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan the opportunity to train under leading Kazakhstani specialists.
As part of the academic mobility programme, participants gain practical knowledge in the field of modern medicine, familiarise themselves with Kazakhstani healthcare standards and protocols, and build professional networks with colleagues from the region. The educational component is complemented by a cultural programme.
For KazAID, the programme forms part of a systematic effort to develop human capital in partner countries.
