As part of systematic efforts to develop pedestrian infrastructure and enhance the safety of residents, projects for the construction of pedestrian crossings over the Big Almaty River continue to be implemented in Bostandyk district.

Thus, in January 2026, following the instruction of the Mayor of Almaty, a pedestrian bridge was constructed over the Big Almaty River in the area of the “Svezhest” gardening cooperative. This has improved accessibility of the territory and created safer conditions for residents’ movement.

Currently, taking into account numerous appeals from residents and in order to further improve pedestrian safety, the construction of two new pedestrian bridges and the reconstruction of one existing structure are underway in the district. These measures aim to reduce injury risks, ensure convenient routes for residents, and improve the overall connectivity of urban infrastructure.

Completion of all construction and restoration works is scheduled by the end of April this year. The Administration of Bostandyk district emphasizes that efforts to improve the urban environment, expand pedestrian accessibility, and develop comfortable infrastructure will continue on a continuous basis.
