Kazakhstan participated in the WCO European Region Meeting

On 16–17 April 2026, a meeting of the Heads of Customs Administrations of the European Region of the World Customs Organization (WCO) was held in Brussels (Kingdom of Belgium).
During the meeting, key issues related to the development of regional cooperation were discussed, including the reform of regional structures, capacity building priorities, engagement with the private sector, as well as the enhancement of information exchange mechanisms and risk management.
From the Republic of Kazakhstan, the meeting was attended by Mr. Yermek Kozhabergenov, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Particular attention was given to the activities of the Regional Office for Capacity Building, including the implementation of the Strategic Plan, identification of regional development priorities, and ensuring the sustainability of human resources.
The meeting also addressed issues related to improving regional cooperation mechanisms, including the Bergen Agreement, as well as upcoming elections and nominations to the WCO working bodies.
Kazakhstan’s participation made it possible to present the national position on key regional agenda items, contribute to the development of coordinated approaches within the European Region, and hold a number of bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening customs cooperation.
Furthermore, the Republic of Kazakhstan was nominated for membership in the WCO Finance Committee, which reflects a high level of trust from Member States and the country’s active engagement in the Organization’s activities.
Kazakhstan reaffirmed its readiness to continue active participation in the work of the European Region and to make a practical contribution to the implementation of joint initiatives.
