New York, 17 April 2026 - From April 14 to 16, 2026, the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum was held at the UN Headquarters in New York.

A representative youth delegation from Kazakhstan participated in the event, comprising heads of relevant departments within the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, leaders of major youth organizations and student movements, as well as heads of the youth wings of political parties and the national volunteer network.

The ECOSOC Youth Forum is the primary UN platform where young leaders can interact with government representatives, policymakers, and civil society. The Forum serves as a space for exchanging ideas, demonstrating innovative solutions, and strengthening the role of youth in implementing the global 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 2026 Forum focused on the theme of transformative, equitable, innovative, and coordinated actions to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs.

The Kazakh delegation actively participated in shaping the global youth agenda. Representatives of Kazakhstan spoke at two key plenary sessions, presenting the country's initiatives and the vision of its youth regarding the transition to green energy and the development of sustainable, inclusive cities in Kazakhstan.

In addition to the main sessions, the delegation took part in numerous thematic events and held a series of bilateral meetings, including talks with Felipe Paullier, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, and youth representatives from other nations.

During a meeting with representatives of the UN Youth Delegate Programme under the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, practical steps were discussed regarding the establishment and launch of a National UN Youth Delegate Programme. This initiative will enable Kazakhstan to consistently send youth representatives to participate in the work of the General Assembly and other UN bodies.
