In his State of the Nation Address on September 8, 2025, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set the goal of positioning the country among global leaders in digital development within three years. As part of this vision, 2026 has been declared the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.

As part of this initiative, the Alem.ai International Artificial Intelligence Center has been opened in Astana.

On April 24, the Head of State visited the center, where he was presented with Presight’s “Astana Smart City” project — a large-scale initiative aimed at building next-generation intelligent urban infrastructure.

On the same day, the President launched a network of Tomorrow School AI schools across 14 regions of the country and inaugurated the TUMO Astana Center for Creative Technologies for teenagers. The center offers training in 11 areas, including generative AI, programming, game development, animation, 3D modeling, and robotics.

During the event, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev awarded the winners of the national “alem.ai battle” competition. Winners of the AI Governance Cup among government agencies were also honored across six categories.

The President also launched the countdown to the international tournament “Games of the Future – Astana 2026” and signed a commemorative plaque at Alem.ai.

Kazakhstan continues to demonstrate steady progress in digital transformation. The national supercomputer “Alem.Cloud” entered the TOP500 global ranking (86th place). The country ranked 60th in the Government AI Readiness Index 2025 and 24th in the UN E-Government Development Index, leading among landlocked developing countries.
