The Austrian capital celebrated the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory

Vienna, 9 May 2026 – On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held in the center of Vienna at the memorial to Soviet soldiers who fell during the liberation of Austria from fascism.

The event was attended by the Ambassadors of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, representatives of the diplomatic missions of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, as well as members of the diaspora from former Soviet republics and Austrian citizens.

The joint ceremony became a symbol of deep respect for the memory of those who perished and recognition of the shared historical heritage uniting the peoples of the region.

The participants honored the memory of the heroes, including thousands of Kazakhstanis who fought on the fronts of the war, as well as home-front workers whose selfless labor helped bring Victory closer. Their courage, resilience and devotion to their Motherland will forever remain in the memory of generations.

Kazakhstan consistently advocates for strengthening peace, mutual understanding and solidarity among nations, based on respect for the common past and the feat of the generations who defended freedom and independence.
