On May 14, the airbase of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan marks the 34th anniversary of its establishment. Over the years, military unit 3656 has become a reliable air support component of the law enforcement troops, ensuring the оперативная deployment of personnel, execution of special missions, and participation in humanitarian operations.

Since the beginning of 2025, the crews of the aviation squadron have logged 1,924 flight hours — equivalent to 80 days of continuous flight. More than one-third of the total flight time was dedicated to missions related to maintaining public order and ensuring public safety. During this period, National Guard aircraft transported more than 7,000 passengers and 607 tons of cargo.

A new stage in the development of the law enforcement troops’ aviation began in 2024, when the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, personally took part in the opening of the National Guard airbase in the capital. With the introduction of modern infrastructure, the unit’s capabilities expanded significantly, and the оперативное use of aviation greatly increased.

Today, the National Guard aviation forms part of Kazakhstan’s state aviation system and remains one of its most mobile and technologically advanced instruments. The unit operates airplanes and helicopters capable of rapidly delivering forces and resources to any part of the country.

Each year, the crews of military unit 3656 participate in the operational-preventive campaign “Karasora,” conducting reconnaissance flights to detect illegal cultivation of narcotic plants. In addition, the pilots took part in the republican command-staff exercise “Ort-2025.”

International humanitarian missions hold a special place in the history of the unit. Military pilots delivered humanitarian aid to Turkey, Syria, and Afghanistan. The total volume of transported humanitarian cargo exceeded 100 tons.

During flood periods, National Guard aviation also played an important role in rescue operations. Crews evacuated residents from hard-to-reach areas and delivered food supplies, medicines, and essential goods.

Thanks to the professionalism of the pilots and technical personnel, National Guard aviation remains a vital element of the national security system and a reliable shield of law and order.
