A touching event took place in the women's colony of the Department of the Penal System in the Abai region.

          A 22-year-old convict has prepared a special gift for her mother's 60th birthday — a hand-painted painting. The gift was presented during a long date when mom came to support her daughter and celebrate the anniversary.

            The painting depicts a house against the backdrop of a picturesque lake, symbolizing family comfort, warmth and closeness, which the girl wants to preserve despite the distance and circumstances.

It was important for me to give a gift to my mom. So I wanted to express my gratitude to her for not looking at the fact that I did not live up to her expectations and did not leave me. Being here now, I don't have the opportunity to make her expensive gifts, so I decided to make a gift with my own hands by investing my love and appreciation in her. While working on this painting, I imagined how, if we didn't have our own house by the lake, where our happiest days would be spent," the convict shared.
      I was deeply touched when I saw this painting. It is clear that she put her whole soul into it — the house, the lake, every touch are filled with warmth and love. For me, it's not just a gift, it's a sign that our bond doesn't break, despite the circumstances. It reminded me that we will always support and take care of each other, no matter what," said the convict's mother.

            -Maintaining social ties and strengthening family relationships are an important part of educational work. The family plays a key role in the process of re-socialization. Such initiatives help convicts to maintain motivation for a law—abiding life and prepare for successful adaptation after release," said Akmaral Kairanova, Deputy head of the institution.
