Regional cooperation between Kazakhstan and Brazil expands

Brasília, May 15, 2026 — A delegation from the Brazilian state of Rondônia, headed by Governor Marcos Rocha, visited the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brazil.

The agenda of the talks focused on expanding regional cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Brazilian state of Rondônia in the fields of economy, trade, mining, agriculture, and livestock farming. Particular interest was shown in opportunities to expand agro-industrial cooperation with companies located in the region.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil, BolatNussupov, briefed the guests on the main aspects of the political and socio-economic reforms in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the context of the recent referendum on the adoption of the new Constitution. He also spoke about the specifics of Kazakhstan’s investment policy, particularly regarding support measures for foreign investors. The Kazakh diplomat further outlined the key areas of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Brazil.

For his part, Marcos Rocha noted the significant potential for expanding trade and economic cooperation between the state of Rondônia and Kazakhstan, presenting priority business projects and opportunities for developing bilateral trade. The governor expressed readiness to provide full support in establishing and strengthening cooperation with Kazakhstan. In this context, interest was voiced in establishing partnership ties between the state of Rondônia and one of Kazakhstan’s regions.

During the meeting, representatives of the region’s business community were invited to participate in the activities of the Kazakhstan–Brazil Business Council and to consider the possibility of implementing investment projects (teasers) prepared by the Kazakh side.

For reference: The state of Rondônia is located in western Brazil. Its economy is primarily based on agriculture, livestock farming, and mining. The state is known for the cultivation and processing of coffee, cocoa, and timber. Currently, regional partnership relations between Kazakhstan and Brazil have been established between the Karaganda Region and the state of Bahia (2022), the Almaty Region and the state of Rio Grande do Sul (2024), as well as the East Kazakhstan Region and the state of Santa Catarina (2025).
