Coordination Between Kazakhstan and Slovenia within the Framework of Multilateral Diplomacy

Ljubljana, 15 May 2026 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Slovenia, Altay Abibullayev, held a meeting with the Director-General of the Directorate for Multilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia, Ambassador Božena Forštanarič Boroje.
The parties exchanged views on issues of multilateral cooperation and interaction on international platforms, shared assessments of the current situation within the UN system, discussed the need to strengthen its institutions, and underlined the importance of coordinated approaches to global challenges. The meeting also addressed matters related to mutual support for candidacies in UN bodies and other international structures, as well as prospects for further coordination in the upcoming election cycles. The Ambassador of Kazakhstan provided a detailed briefing on the outcomes of the Regional Environmental Summit held in Astana, as well as on the initiative of the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to establish, under the auspices of the United Nations, a specialized international water organization as part of the UN‑80 reform process.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of multilateralism, emphasized the importance of international law, and expressed readiness to continue dialogue on the reform of the UN system. Special attention was given to the humanitarian agenda and the search for sustainable solutions in regions requiring international support. Following the consultations, the diplomats reached a principled understanding on further strengthening cooperation within international organizations, confirming their shared interest in advancing mutually beneficial partnership.
