Geneva, 19 May 2026 – Kazakh startup Mirai Tech has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious WIPO Global Awards 2026, becoming one of a limited number of innovative projects worldwide recognized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

In 2026, more than 1,300 applications from 126 countries were submitted to the competition. Following a multi-stage evaluation process, international experts selected 33 finalists among small and medium-sized enterprises and startups demonstrating innovative solutions and effective use of intellectual property for sustainable business development.

The Kazakh startup Mirai Tech was shortlisted in the special "Sports" category, established under the theme of World Intellectual Property Day 2026 – "IP and Sports".

The company developed innovative battery-free insoles capable of tracking movement and assessing injury risks. The technology, developed from six years of university research, is patent-protected in Kazakhstan with international filings underway. The solution creates new opportunities to enhance athlete safety and monitor physical condition.

The advancement of a Kazakh startup to the finals of this prestigious international WIPO award reflects the growing potential of Kazakhstan's innovation ecosystem and confirms the ability of Kazakh developers to create globally competitive technological solutions through effective intellectual property management.

Finalists gain access to the international WIPO Global Awards Alumni Community, including opportunities to engage with investors, accelerators, experts, and international partners.

The winners will be announced on 10 July 2026 during the award ceremony to be held at WIPO headquarters in Geneva, within the framework of the WIPO General Assembly.

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the WTO congratulates the Mirai Tech team on this significant international recognition and wishes them continued success in the final stage of the competition.
