President of Kazakhstan Meets President of the World Meteorological Organization, Director General of the UAE National Centre of Meteorology Abdullah Al Mandous

Turkestan, 15 May 2026 — During the meeting, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the central role of the World Meteorological Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations, in strengthening global cooperation in the areas of climate, weather, water resources, and disaster risk reduction.
The parties gave particular attention to climate agenda issues of strategic importance for Kazakhstan, underscoring the significance of developing early warning systems, modernizing meteorological infrastructure, and expanding scientific data exchange.
The Head of State reaffirmed Kazakhstan's readiness to deepen cooperation with the UAE National Centre of Meteorology.
The urgency of addressing water security and water resource management at both regional and global levels was emphasized. In this context, the parties noted the importance of Kazakhstan's initiative to establish an International Water Organization under the auspices of the United Nations.
A cloud seeding project is being implemented in the Turkestan Region in partnership with the UAE National Centre of Meteorology, aimed at raising reservoir water levels and ensuring adequate water supply to agricultural areas. The full-scale launch of the project is scheduled for 17 May 2026.
Kazakhstan has become the first country in the region to move to the practical application of artificial precipitation technologies.
