From Discussions to Solutions: On May 21–22, 2026, the Committee of the Criminal Enforcement System held a seminar in Karaganda on the topic: “Improving Educational Work in Penal Institutions.”

The main goal of the seminar was to increase the effectiveness of educational and rehabilitation processes aimed at fostering law-abiding behavior among convicts, developing social responsibility, and preparing them for successful reintegration after release.

Presentations were delivered by representatives of the Committee of the Criminal Enforcement System, the Departments of the Criminal Enforcement System for the Karaganda and Ulytau regions, the Karaganda and Kostanay Academies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Akimat of the Karaganda region, and penal institutions. Participants shared practical experience, exchanged opinions, and proposed improvements to the forms and methods of educational work.

As part of the seminar, visits to penal institutions in the Karaganda region were organized, as well as a tour of the Karlag Museum, where participants learned about the history of the region.

Such events contribute to the professional development of staff and improve the effectiveness of rehabilitation and social adaptation efforts for convicted individuals.
