Central Asian Countries Expand Cooperation with South Korea in the Field of Intellectual Property
25.05.2026 14:04:24 314Seoul, May 20, 2026 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan Asset Issenali took part in a meeting between the Minister of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Korea, Kim Yong Sun, and the Ambassadors of Central Asian countries, held as part of preparations for the first “Central Asia – Republic of Korea” Summit.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in the field of intellectual property in the C5 + Republic of Korea format, including the exchange of best practices, expansion of cooperation between relevant agencies, and improvement of the effectiveness of intellectual property rights protection amid the development of the digital economy.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan emphasized that, given Kazakhstan’s active digital transformation, the protection of digital and intellectual property is becoming increasingly relevant. It was noted that this area is directly linked to attracting investment, promoting innovation, and creating a favorable business environment.
The Korean side underlined its interest in expanding cooperation with Kazakhstan and the Central Asian countries, taking into account the region’s growing economic, investment, and innovation potential. In this regard, the parties considered opportunities to promote joint initiatives aimed at developing the innovation ecosystem, supporting business, and strengthening the protection of intellectual property rights.
The meeting became another step toward strengthening the partnership between the Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea, confirming the mutual interest of the parties in achieving concrete results ahead of the upcoming Summit.
