East Kazakhstan has unique potential for the development of fishing tourism. The region's territory features large water bodies, lakes, rivers, and reservoirs that can become not only fishing sites but also full-fledged tourist attractions.
Representatives of government agencies, the East Kazakhstan Region Federation of Sport Fishing, entrepreneurs, and professional anglers have united to discuss this prospect.
International experience shows that the main income in this field is generated not only from fishing itself but from comprehensive services: accommodation, food, rentals, festivals, family recreation, and event tourism.
A particularly promising direction is the development of winter fishing tourism, which can ensure occupancy of accommodation facilities during the low season and create an additional flow of tourists to the region's districts.
Specific proposals have been made regarding the development of sport and recreational fishing, the identification of territories for fishing tourism and approaches to its development, the organization of events and competitions, and problematic issues have been discussed.
"Fishing tourism has enormous potential for the region's economy, but its development must be strictly balanced — with the preservation of the biodiversity of our water bodies and strict control over compliance with environmental norms," — was noted during the meeting.
The first step is updating information on the East Kazakhstan Region tourism website and collecting proposals for forming a tourism product.
