In the maximum security facility of the penal system in the Abai region, convicts were trained with a Sadhu board, a wooden platform with metal spikes.

          Practice helps not so much to overcome physical discomfort as to develop self-control, emotional stability and self-confidence.

          The event was organized by psychologists and staff of the institution. The main purpose of the training is to help convicts learn how to manage their emotions, overcome internal barriers and develop self—confidence.

         The Sadhu board, despite its external complexity, is used as a tool for psychological work.: It helps a person to focus on breathing, thoughts and sensations, and teaches them to remain calm even in conditions of discomfort. —                         Practicing with a Sadhu board is not a physical exercise. It is a training of concentration, self-awareness and inner peace. Many people do not know how to stop and listen to themselves: consciousness constantly returns to the past or worries about the future. It is important to learn how to be in the present moment, even if it is uncomfortable. Sometimes it is much more difficult to manage your own condition than to make a physical effort. And this is the key to real change," said the psychologist of the institution, Ainel Bolat.

         The staff of the institution note that such trainings help convicts cope with stress, develop self-discipline and develop emotional stability skills, which plays an important role in further social adaptation. According to the organizers, the practice with the Sadhu board has become part of a psychological support program for convicts aimed at personal development and preparation for returning to society.
