A delegation from Kazakhstan attended the 35th Annual Meeting of the EBRD Board of Governors in Riga

June 6, 2026, Riga – A Delegation from Kazakhstan led by Dauren Kenbeil, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, participated in the 35th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors and the Business Forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), which took place in Riga from June 5 to 7, 2026.
A key event was the session dedicated to Kazakhstan: “Kazakhstan’s New Investment Cycle.” Dauren Kenbeil, Vice-Minister of Finance, Asan Darbayev, Vice-Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Marat Yelibayev, Chairman of the Board of JSC “Development Bank of Kazakhstan,” delivered presentations on the topic. They provided a detailed overview of effective state support measures and the institutional framework for attracting foreign investment. They highlighted the high level of digitalization and the quality of human capital as key factors for the successful implementation of investment projects in the Republic of Kazakhstan. They also focused on new “hubs” of economic growth in the country.
A practical outcome of the delegation’s participation in the events in Riga was the signing of a Supplementary Agreement to the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the EBRD on the Technical Cooperation Account of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the EBRD regarding the Technical Cooperation Program, as well as a Framework Partnership Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the EBRD on expanding cooperation aimed at promoting the sustainable development and growth of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meetings and speeches held are intended to reaffirm Kazakhstan’s status as a reliable partner of the EBRD and will help attract investment into its economy.
The event brought together more than 2,000 participants, including heads of state and government, central bank governors and finance ministers, international business leaders, and representatives of civil society from the Bank’s 77 countries of operation.
