From ancient times, March 14 was considered by the Kazakhs to be the beginning of the new year. This day is called ”Korisu” in the literal meaning of "Meet, meet.”

        People couldn't see each other all winter because of winter work and snowstorms. And now winter is over, people are rejoicing at the bright holiday Nauryz, which embodies fertility, friendship and love. A day of traditional greeting and kinship.

          He is also noted among the convicts of the secondary security institution DUIS in the Abai region. The convict shared his feelings with us.

         — I was sentenced to five years in prison. I am a father of two children. Before that, I didn't have a permanent job, which is probably why I committed this crime. But that doesn't excuse me in any way, and I'm really sorry that everything happened like that. While in the institution, my attitude towards life changed for the better. I began to look at many things differently, realized the value of family and responsibility to loved ones. Today, together with other convicts, we celebrated the Korisu holiday, congratulated each other, wished good luck, peace and a speedy meeting with our relatives. This day became especially important for me because my wife came to visit me. Her support gives me the strength not to give up. I am very grateful to her for not turning her back on me and continuing to believe that after my release I will be able to start a new life and become a worthy father to my children," the convict shared.
