Saken Seifullin Museum in the Land of Zhetysu

The grand opening of the traveling exhibition “Saken Seifullin: Fate and Legacy”, dedicated to the life and work of the prominent figure of Kazakh culture and spirituality, poet, writer, educator, and statesman Saken Seifullin, took place recently. The event was attended by members of the intellectual community, cultural workers, teachers, students, and local residents.
At the opening ceremony, Nurserik Zholbarys, Deputy Head of the Astana Directorate of Unified Museums, delivered a speech highlighting the goals and significance of the project. Gulnaziya Ibrayeva, Leading Research Fellow of the Saken Seifullin Museum, presented a report on the poet’s personality and legacy. Honored Writer of Kazakhstan Nusipbai Abdirakhym shared his reflections on Seifullin’s life and enduring contribution to the nation’s cultural heritage.
As part of the event, several songs composed by Saken Seifullin were performed. Traditional singer Toleutai Serikov performed the song “Bizdin Zhakta” (“In Our Region”), while vocalist Eskhat Nurali presented the rarely performed song “Totyqus” (“The Parrot”).
Visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity to view the poet’s personal belongings, books published during his lifetime, household items preserved by his wife Gulbahram Seifullina, manuscripts, a pocket notebook, an Underwood typewriter, rare photographs, and historical documents. The exhibition aims to promote a deeper understanding of the poet’s life journey and creative legacy among a wider audience.
