Today, the grand opening of the reconstructed Toretam railway station took place. The ceremony was attended by Akim of Kyzylorda Region Murat Ergeshbayev, who was on a working trip to Karmakshy District, deputies of the Kurultai of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Kozhaniyazov, Nurken Bakytbekuly, Magzhan Eraliyev, Irina Ten, and maslikhat deputies.
The head of the region noted that the modernization of railway infrastructure and the renovation of stations in accordance with modern requirements are of great importance for both residents and guests of the region.
«Kyzylorda Region is located at the crossroads of nine roads and is an important transport corridor connecting different regions of the country. Fifteen passenger trains pass through the territory of the region. Railway connections are available from the regional center to Astana, Petropavlovsk, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Semey, and Turkistan.
Today is a joyful day for Karmakshy District — the sacred land where Korkyt Ata was born. Together with you, we are commissioning facilities important for our region — the Toretam and Zhosaly railway stations. We wish success to all initiatives aimed at the benefit of the people. We also express our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the major renovation of this facility.

Deputy of the Kurultai Magzhan Eraliyev spoke at the ceremony. Chairman of the Veterans' Council of Karmakshy District Askar Merekov gave a blessing. Railway industry workers and the contractor organization were awarded letters of gratitude from the Akim of the region.
The history of the Toretam railway station is closely linked to the period of creation and establishment of the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Construction materials, equipment, and cargo necessary for the cosmodrome were transported through the station.
After reconstruction, the station is capable of serving up to 250 passengers per day. During the major renovation, the facade and foundation of the building were updated, and the roof, doors, and windows were replaced. Electrical networks were renewed, a heating system was installed, and the building was equipped in accordance with modern requirements.
A waiting hall, special facilities for people with disabilities and passengers with children, as well as a medical station, are provided for passengers. One billion tenge was allocated for the reconstruction of the station.
