Astana, June 3-4, 2026 – The Kazakhstan Agency for International Development “KazAID”, in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), held a two-day seminar on "Strategic Planning, Project Development, Partnerships, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) and Results" for representatives of state agencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This event was organized with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of implementing the OECD and KazAID Roadmap for the development of the official development assistance system in Kazakhstan. The objectives of the event are aimed at strengthening the capacity of state agencies for strategic planning, financing, building partnerships, and evaluating the effectiveness of official development assistance (ODA) programs.

In his welcoming speech, J. Asanov, Acting Chairman of the Board of KazAID, noted that the implementation of modern monitoring and evaluation tools, as well as transparent and reliable reporting in the field of ODA in accordance with OECD standards, is a guarantee of trust from international partners and an important milestone towards deepening cooperation with the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC).

During the seminar, OECD experts led by R. Schwarz, Head of the Global Relations Group, as well as representatives of traditional donor countries, presented best practices for further integrating the organization's criteria into planning and financing processes within the national ODA system. Special attention was paid to bilateral and triangular cooperation mechanisms, the exchange of best practices and knowledge, engaging the private sector in ODA projects, as well as the implementation of results-based management.

Background Information:

Taking into account the importance of the RK's participation in the global dialogue and coordination in the field of ODA, the issue of deepening cooperation with the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) is one of the priority directions for the development of the national ODA system.

Kazakhstan has been submitting aggregated reports on official development assistance provided to the OECD since 2014. In 2015, Kazakhstan was granted the official "Invitee" status in the OECD DAC.
