The leading special economic zone in the country is the capital's special economic zone "Astana - New City." It accounts for more than 70% of the total production volume of all special economic zones in Kazakhstan.

In general, the operating period of such zones is set at 25 years. In this regard, in December of this year, the special status of this zone will be terminated, after which it will continue operating as a
full-fledged industrial zone. Diversification of the city's economy and the creation of modern
production facilities are key strategic development directions for the capital. Today, Astana is gradually transforming into a major industrial and logistics center. In this context, the city's special economic zones
play a particularly important role.
