Service Dog Once Again Helps Detect Suspected Contraband at a Correctional Facility in Uralsk

A substance of plant origin intended for inmates was discovered during the inspection of postal parcels at a correctional facility in the city of Uralsk.
As part of a routine inspection, members of the search and inspection group examined parcels and packages. A service narcotics detection dog named Detective, handled by Corporal Amanay Baktygali, a canine specialist from Military Unit 5517 of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was then deployed to assist with the inspection.
During the search, the service dog displayed a characteristic alert response to one of the parcels, prompting the immediate involvement of an investigative and operational team.
The seized material has been sent for forensic chemical examination to determine its composition and origin.
Procedural measures are currently being carried out in connection with the incident. Efforts to prevent attempts to deliver prohibited items and substances into correctional institutions continue on a permanent basis.
