In anticipation of International Children's Day, highly qualified maxillofacial surgeon, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Serik Nurmaganov from the Almaty Medical Park center was invited to the Atyrau Regional Children's Hospital. This was reported by the Regional Communications Service.
The specialist participated in a master class for doctors in the region, demonstrating modern techniques for performing complex surgeries on children with congenital maxillofacial pathologies.
The first surgery was performed today on a child aged 1 year and 9 months. According to doctors, the surgery was successful, and this practice will be continued.
"Currently, approximately 300 children with various maxillofacial pathologies are registered in the region. Timely surgery for children diagnosed with cleft palate positively impacts speech development and normal feeding."
"The master class, which runs from May 28 to 30, is scheduled to include 12 surgeries—four daily. Additionally, Professor Serik Nurmaganov will be seeing patients and providing consultations on May 28 and 29," Kaisar Abdaliyev, Head of the Regional Department of Healthcare, said.
This initiative was launched last year in the lead-up to International Children's Day and is already becoming a regular project.
