Brasília, June 11, 2026 – The Embassy of Kazakhstan received a courtesy visit from the Ambassador of Serbia to Brazil, Aleksandar Ristić, and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Serbia in Rio de Janeiro, Dejan Petković.

The parties discussed opportunities for establishing trade and economic cooperation between the State of Rio de Janeiro and Kazakhstan. In particular, special interest was expressed in expanding cooperation in the energy and agricultural sectors. During the meeting, the participants also exchanged views on international issues, both countries’ cooperation with Brazil, as well as the development of football.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dejan Petković left a commemorative message in the Embassy’s Book of Honor and signed a jersey of the Brazilian football club Santos. Dejan Petković is a renowned Serbian footballer who played for such prominent clubs as Red Star Belgrade, Real Madrid, and Sevilla, as well as Brazilian football clubs Flamengo, Vasco da Gama, Fluminense, and Santos. He concluded his professional career in Brazil’s top football division in 2011 and subsequently worked as a football coach in Brazil for some time.
