Today, June 18, the Regional Communications Service held a briefing on "Duty-Free Carriage of Goods."
During the briefing, the head of the customs post "Kokshetau-center of customs clearance" of the Department of State Revenues, Shaikenov Abai, announced the general procedure in force in the EAEU states (including Kazakhstan).
- who can import goods for personal use
Goods for personal use are things intended not for sale or entrepreneurial activity, but for the own needs of a citizen or his family. Such goods can be imported:
- when crossing the border in person;
- by mail (online purchases);
- in luggage, hand luggage or on a vehicle.
- import at personal border crossing (by land transport)
Without paying customs duties, you can import:
goods with a total value of up to 500 euros, and weighing up to 25 kg.
If the limits are exceeded, you need to pay a fee:
30% of the cost of excess, but not less than 4 euros for each kilogram in excess of the norm.
- Import during air travel
When crossing the border by air (aircraft):
- goods up to EUR 10,000 and weighing up to 50 kg are allowed duty-free;
over the limit - a duty of 30% of the cost of excess, but not less than 4 euros per 1 kg.
- Import of goods by mail (online purchases)
For goods received via international mail:
limit - 200 euros and 31 kg per shipment;
in excess - a duty of 15% of the cost of excess, but not less than 2 euros for each kilogram.
- Goods subject to special control
Some categories of goods have separate import standards:
- alcohol
o Limit: Up to 3 litres
o Note: no duty; from 3 to 5 liters - a duty of 10 euros per liter; over 5 liters - prohibited.
- tobacco products
o Limit: Up to 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars
o Note: Over 18s only.
- cash
o Limit: up to USD 10,000 (equivalent)
o Note: if the amount is more than - mandatory written declaration.
- Food
o Limit: in reasonable quantities for personal use
o Note: Meat and dairy products - with restrictions.

If you do not exceed the limits, you can go through the "green corridor" without filling out a declaration.
If you exceed, you must fill out a passenger customs declaration and pay the duty.
- Prohibited and restricted goods
Cannot be imported:
- weapons, ammunition, explosives (without permission);
- narcotic and psychotropic drugs;
- rare plants and animals (without CITES permits);
- materials of an extremist nature and materials of frank content. During the event, competent answers were given to all questions posed by the media.
