Constanța, Romania, June 16–18, 2026 — the fifth annual Maritime Business Week 2026 took place, one of the largest international business events in the Black Sea region dedicated to the maritime, port, logistics, and transportation industries.

The event was organized by the Constanța Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Navigation and Agriculture (CCINA Constanța) with the support of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR). According to the organizers, this year’s forum brought together 77 companies from 21 countries, as well as delegations from 14 diplomatic missions accredited in Romania. Participants included representatives of some of Europe’s largest ports, including Hamburg, Rotterdam, Duisburg, and Rijeka, alongside representatives of Aktau Port on the Caspian Sea in Kazakhstan.

A delegation representing the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the forum, highlighting the country's growing role in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, which connects Central Asia with Europe.

Kazakhstan was represented by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Romania, Corina Martin, who participated in the forum’s events and emphasized the strategic importance of the Port of Constanța as a key maritime hub for Kazakh exports and the development of the Middle Corridor. She also highlighted the importance of strengthening partnerships in logistics, maritime transport, and infrastructure to build a more integrated Eurasian trade network, connecting Kazakhstan and the countries of Central Asia with European markets via the Black Sea.

Kazakhstan was also represented at the forum by Gökhan Güvenç, Chief Executive Officer of Aktau Marine North Terminal LLP, the operator of a terminal at the Port of Aktau on the Caspian Sea. His participation reflected the growing interest of Aktau’s port infrastructure in developing direct links with the Port of Constanța within the framework of the Middle Corridor. The Constanța Port Administration served as the event’s main partner.

Opening the forum, Mihai Daraban, President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR), drew attention to the structural constraints that continue to hinder the development of shipping in the Black Sea region and identified the strengthening of the East–West transport corridor as a key priority for enhancing the region’s attractiveness for international maritime trade. According to him, this was precisely the reason why representatives of Kazakhstan and the Port of Aktau were invited to participate in this year’s edition of the forum. The organizers view the Black Sea as the natural extension of the Middle Corridor, linking Central Asia through the Caspian Sea to Europe.
