Brussels, June 23, 2026 – As part of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Brussels, a Memorandum of Understanding between JCS National Atomic Company Kazatomprom and Societatea National Nuclearelectrica S.A. and the National University of Science and Technology Politechnica Bucharest concerning cooperation in civil nuclear energy was signed.

The Memorandum was signed on behalf of Kazakhstan by Meirzhan Yussupov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC National Atomic Company Kazatomprom. On the Romanian side, it was signed by Cosmin Ghiță, Chief Executive Officer of Nuclearelectrica S.A., and Ioan Ștefan Săcălă, Vice-Rector of the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest.

The Memorandum is aimed at fostering cooperation in the training and professional development of nuclear industry specialists, the development of joint educational programs, the exchange of experts, and the conduct of collaborative research.

As part of the Memorandum, there are also plans to establish an annual Kazakhstan-Romania Nuclear Industry Dialogue as a platform for exchanging expertise and coordinating joint initiatives in the field of civil nuclear energy.
