Forgot to pay your taxes or social security contributions? In Kazakhstan, the collection system operates clearly and automatically. Here is the sequence of measures the state applies to debtors.

Notification — The first alert 🔔 If a debt arises, the tax office will send a notification for repayment. For businesses (IP and TOO), this occurs when the debt exceeds 20 MRP, and for social payments — more than 6 MRP. You have 10 working days for voluntary payment.

Blocking of accounts and cash office 🚫 If the notification is ignored:

  • Bank accounts: All expenditure operations (except for salary, alimony, and tax payments themselves) will be suspended within 1 working day.
  • Cash office: If the debt is significant, the tax office will prohibit taking cash from the cash register — all money must go to the budget.

Ban on travel abroad ✈️ This is the most unpleasant measure for company heads and Individual Entrepreneurs. If the debt exceeds the threshold and remains unpaid for more than 3 months, the tax authority imposes a temporary restriction on exit from Kazakhstan through the court.

Forced collection 🔨 If accounts are blocked and there is no money, strict measures are implemented:

  • Incasso orders: The bank will automatically withdraw funds from the account as soon as they appear.
  • Collection from your debtors: The tax office can demand money from those who owe you.
  • Seizure and sale of property: Your property may be restricted from disposal and put up for auction.

Tax order for individuals 👤 For ordinary citizens, the procedure is even simpler: with a debt of more than 1 MRP, a tax order is issued and immediately transferred to bailiffs for the seizure of property and accounts.

Reputational risks 📉 Lists of debtors are published in open access and media quarterly. This could damage your relationships with banks and counterparties.

💡 How to avoid problems?

  • Monitor penalties (they accrue for each day of delay at 1.25 of the National Bank's base rate).
  • Regularly check your cabinet in the "e-Salyq Azamat" or "e-Salyq Business" applications.
