Public Council on the Activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Holds Regular Meeting

The Public Council on the Activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan held its regular meeting with the participation of members of Parliament, and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of civil society.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermukhambet Konuspayev emphasized the important role of the Public Council in strengthening public trust and promoting an open and accountable system of public administration. He also presented the Ministry’s 2025 performance results, highlighting achievements in attracting investment, advancing public diplomacy, enhancing consular services, and expanding international legal cooperation.

Particular attention was paid to the protection of Kazakh citizens abroad. During the escalation of tensions in the Middle East, the Ministry and Kazakhstan’s diplomatic missions successfully facilitated the return of 1,913 Kazakh citizens and their family members from Israel, Iran, the Gaza Strip, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.

Chairwoman of the Public Council and Chairwoman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security of the Mazhilis, Aigul Kuspan, welcomed the successful cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Parliament in advancing international agreements. During the fourth parliamentary session, seven laws were adopted, including those concerning the Strategic Partnership Agreement with the United Kingdom, the Agreement on the Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments with the People’s Republic of China, and the Treaty on Allied Relations with the Republic of Tajikistan.

The meeting also highlighted the adoption of legislation enabling the operation of the United Nations Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty, further strengthening Kazakhstan’s role as a regional hub for multilateral diplomacy.

Following the discussion, the members of the Public Council unanimously endorsed the Deputy Minister’s report and approved the appointment of Tamerlan Zhumatay as Secretary of the Public Council.
