The Federal District Highly Values Cooperation with Kazakhstan

Brasília, June 30, 2026 - A meeting was held at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brazil between Ambassador Bolat Nussupov and the Secretary for International Relations of the Federal District Government, Paco Britto.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities to expand bilateral trade, economic, scientific, technological, and cultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Government of the Federal District, particularly in the fields of agriculture, public administration, and education.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan expressed his gratitude to the Government of the Federal District for its friendly support in establishing a partnership in 2023 between the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Astana and the University of Brasília. He also thanked the District Government for its close cooperation in organizing the annual presentation of books by Kazakh authors at the National Library of Brasília as part of the “Kazakh Library in Brazil” project, as well as for its care of the Almaty Aport apple trees planted in 2025 at the “Avenue of Nations” in the Botanical Garden of the Brazilian capital.

The parties agreed to continue their active and friendly dialogue between the Embassy of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Federal District across all areas of mutual interest. At the conclusion of the meeting, Ambassador Bolat Nussupov expressed his appreciation to Paco Britto for the successful and friendly cooperation and presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Embassy of Kazakhstan in recognition of his contribution to strengthening and expanding bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Brazil.

For reference: The Federal District is a special administrative unit of Brazil that includes the country’s capital, Brasília. The Federal District has the eighth-largest economy among Brazil’s states and federal units and ranks first in GDP per capita, which is approximately 2.4 times higher than the national average. Brasília is home to a well-developed higher education system, the headquarters of Brazil’s major sectoral confederations (CNI, CNN, and CNM), leading research institutes, and the country’s principal institutions dedicated to agricultural and space research, including Embrapa and the Brazilian Space Agency (AEB).
