The Central Museum of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan has received a truly valuable new exhibit. Legendary Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin has donated his boxing gloves to the museum’s collection.
The news holds special significance for Private Marlen Suramayev, a serviceman of Military Unit 5573 of the National Guard stationed in Astana. Growing up, he followed Golovkin’s fights with admiration, inspired by the champion’s composure, dedication, and winning mentality.
Drafted for compulsory military service from Almaty, Suramayev has devoted many years to boxing himself. A graduate of the Republican Sports College, a Candidate for Master of Sports, a two-time silver medalist of the Kazakhstan Boxing Championships, and the Almaty champion, he says Golovkin’s example strengthened his belief that great achievements are built through daily hard work and discipline.
Recently, Marlen took part in the filming of a tribute video dedicated to Golovkin’s induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame as a member of the National Guard’s Honor Guard Company. Today, he welcomed the news of the gloves being donated to the museum with particular pride.
Autographed boxing gloves from Gennady Golovkin rarely become part of museum collections. From now on, one such remarkable exhibit will be preserved at the Central Museum of the National Guard, where it will serve as a symbol of continuity between generations and an inspiration for young servicemen.
