Karatobe District Ranked Second in the Regional “In the Footsteps of the Ancestors” League
As part of the Nauryznama celebrations and in honor of National Sports Day, the large-scale regional sports project “In the Footsteps of the Ancestors” was held, where athletes from Karatobe District delivered an outstanding performance and secured second place in the overall regional standings.
The league, which lasted for several months, was aimed at promoting traditional Kazakh sports, preserving the nation's cultural heritage, and inspiring the younger generation to honor the legacy of their ancestors. Throughout the competition, Karatobe District athletes competed in 12 national sports disciplines, earning numerous prize-winning places.
Results by sport:
Bes Asyq – 1st Place (25 points);
Kazakh Kuresi (Kazakh Wrestling) – 1st Place (25 points);
Kunan Horse Race – 3rd Place (17 points);
Zhamby Atu (Traditional Mounted Archery) – 3rd Place (17 points);
Kokpar – 3rd Place (17 points).
Based on the combined results of all 12 sports, Karatobe District accumulated 187 points, finishing second overall in the region. This achievement reflects the athletes’ excellent preparation, the dedication of their coaches, and their strong commitment to preserving and promoting Kazakhstan’s national sports.
During the award ceremony, Murat Baimenov, Mayor of Oral, highly praised the athletes of Karatobe District and expressed his appreciation for their contribution to promoting national traditions and cultural values.
It is worth noting that Kadyrzhan Suyeugaliev, Akim of Karatobe District, personally attended the “In the Footsteps of the Ancestors” League to support the district’s athletes. He shared in every victory with the team, and his presence as a supporter provided additional motivation and strengthened the athletes’ determination.
The “In the Footsteps of the Ancestors” League further increased interest in traditional sports in Karatobe District. The gold medals won in Kazakh Kuresi and Bes Asyq brought great pride to the district, while the prize-winning performances in Kokpar, Zhamby Atu, and the Kunan Horse Race demonstrated that the rich traditions of Kazakhstan’s national sports continue to thrive.
