Kazakhstan is strengthening ties with Morocco’s Fez-Meknes region

On June 24-25, 2026, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Morocco Mrs Saulekul Saylaukyzy participated in the 6th Fez-Meknes Economic Forum, met with Ouali Khalid Ait Talib, Governor of the Fez Prefecture, and Amine Bensaïd, Rector of El Aouhaouine University.

At the meeting with Ouali Khalid Ait Talib, the parties discussed prospects for developing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Morocco in trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The parties expressed interest in organizing interregional business forums with Kazakhstani businesses. They also noted the importance of expanding ties between higher education institutions and intensifying student exchange programs and academic cooperation. The regional leadership expressed its readiness to provide the necessary support to Kazakhstani partners in areas such as tourism, the restaurant industry, industry, education, and healthcare.

During the meeting with Dr. A. Bensaïd, the parties confirmed the two countries' high potential in education and science and discussed mutual student exchanges in areas such as oriental studies, international relations, artificial intelligence, ecology, and renewable energy. Following the meeting, the Ambassador gave a lecture to students at Al-Akhaween University on the significance of the Golden Horde in Kazakhstan's history, constitutional reforms, economic opportunities, and the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Morocco.
