Consul General of Kazakhstan in Busan Holds Meeting with the City’s Chief Police Commissioner

Busan, July 2, 2026 – The Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Busan, Askar Aslan Muratuly, held a meeting with the Chief Commissioner of the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency, Kim Seong Hee.
During the meeting, the Kazakh diplomat congratulated the head of Busan Police on his official appointment and emphasized the priority importance of close cooperation between the Consulate General and law enforcement authorities in ensuring and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan residing in the region.
For his part, Chief Commissioner Kim Seong Hee expressed his sincere appreciation to the Kazakh side for the high level of оперативе cooperation. He particularly highlighted the successful joint operation during which law enforcement authorities of Kazakhstan in Almaty apprehended and promptly transferred to the Korean authorities a wanted citizen of the Republic of Korea who had committed a crime in his home country and attempted to illegally settle in Kazakhstan. The South Korean Commissioner described this case as the highest manifestation of mutual trust between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries.
Within the framework of discussions on the international agenda, the parties addressed issues related to security and logistical support in the context of the upcoming official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Korea for participation in the “Central Asia + Korea” Summit.
It was also noted that a draft Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Police Agency of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan is currently under active consideration, and the Busan Police expressed their readiness to provide full support for its signing.
Special attention was given to the prevention of offenses involving Kazakh citizens in South Korea. The parties reaffirmed their readiness to strengthen joint efforts in combating internet fraud, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and traffic violations. To enhance the legal awareness of citizens, the Korean side will provide the Consulate General with specialized informational materials for publication on official platforms.
Taking into account Kim Seong Hee’s previous experience as the former President of the Korean National Police University, the parties also expressed interest in exploring joint initiatives on cadet exchanges, training seminars, and the sharing of best practices in the field of criminalistics.
To ensure rapid response to any emergency situations, a direct emergency communication channel was officially established between the leadership of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan and the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency.
The meeting was held in an atmosphere of warm hospitality and constructive dialogue based on mutual trust.
