July 8, 2026, Geneva – Official delegation of Kazakhstan led by Mr. Zhaslan Madiyev, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development, participated in the inaugural United Nations Global Dialogue on AI Governance held in Geneva on July 6-7, 2026.

Speaking among the 10 highest-level delegates from the UN member states, Mr. Madiyev reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s support for open and equitable discussions under the auspices of the UN and called on the international community to develop common approaches to data protection, security, transparency, and accountability of AI systems, as well as to promote international cooperation based on the principles of inclusivity and interoperability.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Kazakhstan’s new Constitution and the AI regulatory framework, as well as the development of a national AI ecosystem based on the Digital Qazaqstan Strategy, Astana Hub, the Data Center Valley, Alem.ai International Center and other capacity-building initiatives. Particular attention was paid to practical cooperation with international partners within the new UN entities being established in Almaty – the Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals and the Asia-Pacific Center for Digital Solutions for Sustainable Development.

Joint initiatives of Kazakhstan and the UN were also discussed during a bilateral meeting between Mr. Madiyev and the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who commended Kazakhstan's unique contribution and diplomatic efforts in strengthening the multilateral system and promoting sustainable development throughout the Central Asian region.

During the UN Global Dialogue, Mr. Darkhan Zhazykbay, Chairman of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, also spoke on the digital transformation of the government agencies in the AI ​​era. In particular, Mr. Zhazykbay presented Kazakhstan's best practices in integrating HR information systems based on the e-Qyzmet platform, which aims to increase transparency in personnel decisions and ensure equal opportunities among candidates using artificial intelligence technologies.

On the sidelines of the Global Dialogue, the delegation of Kazakhstan also held a series of bilateral meetings with high-level foreign delegations to discuss promoting partnerships on AI, capacity-building for the public sector and coordination of work within relevant international organizations.

The delegation led by Mr. Madiyev continues participating in the AI ​​for Good Summit and the annual Forum of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), which are currently taking place in Geneva under the leadership of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
