Kazakh - Serbian Scientific Cooperation Discussed in Belgrade

Belgrade, July 8, 2026 — As part of a working visit to the Republic of Serbia, a delegation from the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by Director General Sayabek Sakhiev, visited the Vinča Institute. During the visit, the parties held a meeting focused on prospects for advancing scientific cooperation and exchanging expertise in the field of nuclear science and the peaceful use of atomic energy.
The discussions covered opportunities for implementing joint research projects, expanding professional contacts, and strengthening international scientific partnerships.
The Kazakh delegation presented the activities of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which will celebrate its 70th anniversary next year.
On the same day, Director General of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Republic of Kazakhstan, S. Sakhiev, was received by the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Serbia, Madi Atamkulov.
The meeting focused on the prospects for further developing Kazakh–Serbian cooperation in the fields of science, innovation, and the peaceful use of atomic energy.
The parties agreed to work on the preparation and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of Nuclear Physics and its Serbian partner research institutions. The memorandum is intended to establish an institutional framework for future cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan emphasized the importance of scientific diplomacy as a key element in strengthening bilateral relations and expressed the Embassy’s readiness to provide comprehensive support for the development of direct cooperation between the specialized scientific institutions of the two countries.
At the conclusion of the meetings, the parties expressed confidence that the continued development of cooperation between the scientific institutions of Kazakhstan and Serbia would contribute to the implementation of joint projects, the exchange of advanced knowledge and expertise, and the strengthening of partnership in the field of science and technology.
