Prague, 9 July 2026 - Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Czech Republic Kairat Abdrakhmanov held a meeting with Tomáš Kuchta, Director General of the Section for Economic and Scientific Diplomacy and Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the current state of and prospects for Kazakhstan-Czech cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, science and education, and innovation.

Particular attention was devoted to the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the recent successful official visit of Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babiš to Kazakhstan, as well as to identifying concrete projects that will further advance the bilateral partnership.

The interlocutors noted the steady expansion of economic ties between the two countries. It was emphasized that Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic are among each other's key partners in Central Asia and the European Union, respectively, and that further growth in bilateral trade, investment promotion, industrial localisation and the introduction of advanced technologies serves the strategic interests of both countries. In this context, the Czech side was briefed on the outcomes of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to Brussels in June, including his meetings with the leadership of the European Union and representatives of the European business community.

Special attention was also paid to the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial and Scientific-Technical Cooperation as an important mechanism for coordinating bilateral engagement. In this regard, the parties reaffirmed their interest in ensuring the successful convening of the Commission's next session in the Czech Republic later this autumn.

The discussion also focused on cooperation in science and higher education. The parties explored opportunities to expand partnerships between universities and research institutions, promote joint research projects and strengthen academic exchanges between the two countries.

Ambassador Abdrakhmanov also briefed the Czech side on the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which entered into force on 1 July 2026, as well as on the institutional reforms initiated by the Head of State to further strengthen the rule of law, enhance the effectiveness of public institutions and create favourable conditions for sustainable economic development.

The meeting also covered mutual support for candidacies within international organisations and Kazakhstan's global initiatives, including the widely discussed proposal to establish an International Water Organization under the auspices of the United Nations.

The meeting reaffirmed the high level of mutual trust between Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic and the shared commitment of both sides to further deepening their long-term, mutually beneficial strategic partnership.
