Today, industry is one of the main driving forces behind Astana's economy. In the first half of this year, the city produced industrial output worth KZT 2.256 trillion, while the Industrial Production Index reached 111.9%. The manufacturing sector accounted for 94.9% of total industrial output, remaining the key driver of the capital's economic growth.

A significant contribution to the city's industrial expansion is made by the Astana – New City and Astana – Technopolis special economic zones. Currently, 145 projects with a total investment value exceeding KZT 369 billion are being implemented within Industrial Park No. 1. Of these, 100 enterprises are already operational, while 45 projects are under development. More than 30 manufacturing projects are being implemented with the participation of foreign investors.

These projects make a substantial contribution to employment. Today, approximately 7,000 people are permanently employed within the special economic zones, with an additional 2,500 jobs expected to be created once the ongoing projects are completed.

Industrial Park No. 2 is also developing rapidly. By 2029, more than 100 manufacturing projects with a combined investment of around KZT 500 billion are expected to be launched, creating approximately 8,000 new jobs.

One of the enterprises included in the press tour was the Tau-Ken Altyn Gold Refinery. Operating as part of the National Mining Company Tau-Ken Samruk, the refinery carries out the entire production cycle—from receiving gold-bearing raw materials to producing gold bars that meet international standards. The facility has an annual gold refining capacity of up to 50 tonnes.

Another site visited during the tour was the TAZAU plant, which was commissioned ahead of Astana Day. The enterprise specializes in the production of modular polypropylene wastewater treatment systems. The plant has an annual production capacity of approximately 200 units and has created 60 permanent jobs.
