Sustainable Cities: Kazakhstan at the United Nations

New York, 16 July 2026 - High-Level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly was held at UN Headquarters to conduct the midterm review of the implementation of the New Urban Agenda.
At the outset of the event, Member States adopted a Political Declaration reaffirming their collective commitment to accelerating the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Head of the Kazakh delegation Mr. Yelnar Bazyken, Director of the Astana Urban Center and Head of the Kazakh delegation, presented Kazakhstan’s national achievements and innovative approaches to developing sustainable and livable cities. He reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to implementing the New Urban Agenda, highlighted the country’s experience in advancing sustainable urban development, and underscored the importance of international cooperation in this field.
Kazakhstan also reaffirmed its readiness to further strengthen cooperation with UN-Habitat, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), and other international partners to promote the exchange of experience and advance joint initiatives in the field of sustainable urban development.
