On July 28–30, 2026, Tashkent (Republic of Uzbekistan) hosted the 11th Annual High-Level Interregional Meeting of Partner Countries under the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and World Customs Organization Global Container Control Programme.

      The event was attended by representatives of UNODC, the World Customs Organization, and customs administrations of the IREN network partner countries.

       During the meeting, Kazakhstan presented the outcomes of the digital transformation of its customs administration alongside key directions for further development. Special emphasis was placed on integrating artificial intelligence technologies into the risk management system, advancing centralized remote customs control, establishing a national targeting center, enhancing the Authorized Economic Operator framework, and ensuring the secure and seamless transit of goods along international transport corridors, including the Middle Corridor.

      The presentation by the Main Dispatch Department of the State Revenue Committee drew significant interest from the participants. Kazakhstan showcased its operational centralized remote customs control system, which provides round-the-clock monitoring of border checkpoints, data analysis from non-intrusive inspection equipment, customs inspection oversight, centralized release of electronic declarations, and coordination of control measures.

     The presented solutions were highly appreciated by the participants and recognized as a successful model for integrating modern digital technologies into customs operations.

     A key topic of the meeting was the development of targeting centers within the IREN network. Participants discussed the application of AI and analytical tools in risk management, the expansion of international information exchange, and the establishment of an Advisory Council of Targeting Centers to strengthen cooperation among customs administrations.

      Following the meeting, participating countries reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation. The primary focus will be on sharing best practices, implementing cutting-edge digital solutions, enhancing the efficiency of customs control, ensuring the security of international supply chains, and countering the illicit trafficking of drugs, weapons, and other prohibited goods.
