An attempt to deliver a prohibited item to a convicted person was stopped at the maximum security facility of the Department of the Penal Enforcement System in the Abai region.
During the inspection of postal items using X-ray equipment, employees of the security department identified a suspicious object. Upon opening the parcel, it was established that the prohibited item was disguised in clothing in order to conceal it. As a result of the inspection, a Wi-Fi router with two antennas was found and seized. It was established that the package was intended for a 37-year-old convict serving a sentence for theft.
— Attempts to transfer prohibited items to institutions of the penal correction system are regularly suppressed due to the well-coordinated work of employees and the use of modern technical means of inspection. In this case, timely detection prevented the prohibited device from reaching the convict. All such facts receive a legal assessment, and the perpetrators are brought to justice in accordance with the procedure established by law," said Nurbek Ramazanov, head of the security department.
Currently, an administrative protocol has been drawn up against the sender.
