A production workshop for sewing uniforms for employees of the Police Department and the Penitentiary Service in the Abai region, as well as special clothing for convicted women, has started operating in the women's penal colony in the Abai region. The project was implemented as part of the development of industrial employment of convicts and is aimed at their re-socialization.

Currently, more than 200 women are serving their sentences in the institution, of whom over 150 have already been provided with permanent jobs. Today, more than 70 convicts work in the workshop. They receive a fixed salary, at the expense of which they pay off claims imposed by the court, as well as provide assistance to their families.

For convicted women, these are not only jobs, but also an opportunity to master a sought-after profession, acquire practical skills and prepare for life after release. In the future, it is planned to create new jobs and expand the production line.

Today, the workshop produces more than 30 types of seasonal workwear. In the future, it is planned to increase production volumes and expand the geography of supplies throughout the republic.

The production site is equipped with modern equipment: more than 70 sewing machines have been installed, as well as specialized equipment, including high-speed cutting systems, which significantly speeds up the fabric processing process and improves the quality of products.

            — Working in a sewing workshop gave me the opportunity not only to be busy, but also to feel needed. Here I learned how to sew, work with professional equipment, and mastered new skills. The most important thing is that I can help my family, send money to my loved ones, and gradually pay off the claim. It gives you confidence in the future. After my release, I plan to continue working in this specialty and start a new life," the convict shared.

             — Our main task is to promote the re—socialization of convicted women and the development of their work skills. Such initiatives are not just jobs, but a real opportunity to get a new profession and prepare for life in freedom. We support this project and are glad that we are jointly implementing an effective partnership," said the head of the institution, Ualikhan Zhumashev.

Currently, the institution has five individual enterprises: two sewing workshops, a workshop for the production of semi-finished products, a greenhouse and a workshop for canning vegetables, a sausage and confectionery workshop.
