Budapest, 7 August 2026 – The Almaty Youth Jazz Band, led by renowned musician Tagir Zaripov, visited Hungary to present Kazakhstan’s young musical talent to Hungarian audiences.

On 5 August, the ensemble performed at Budapest Jazz Club, followed by a performance on 6 August at Jazzpiknik in Paloznak, one of Hungary’s prominent summer music festivals.

The Almaty Youth Jazz Band is the only children’s jazz ensemble in Kazakhstan and Central Asia. For more than three decades, Tagir Zaripov has been mentoring young musicians and introducing new generations to the world of jazz. The ensemble has performed on international stages, including the legendary Apollo Theater in New York.

During its performances in Hungary, the ensemble presented songs by Abai Qunanbaiuly in jazz arrangements, original compositions by the musicians, and classics of world jazz. The programme also included Abai’s song “Kalamkas” in a jazz interpretation.

The visit of the Almaty Youth Jazz Band to Hungary contributed to strengthening cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Hungary, supporting young talent, and promoting Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage abroad through the universal language of music.
